Oxford Twp. - Friday May 14, 2004
Oxford Police stopped a New Brunswick man on Friday evening for operating a vehicle with an inoperable headlight. Sgt. Kevin Racek approached the vehicle and began to speak to the driver identified as Eddie F. Warren from New Brunswick. As Sgt. Racek was talking to Mr. Warren, he noticed an open container of alcohol in the back passenger compartment of the vehicle and an odor of alcoholic beverage was detected on Mr. Warren's breath as he spoke. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Mr. Warren was subsequently placed into custody, and transported to HQ. Mr. Warren consented to a breathalyzer test and was found to have a blood alcohol concentration over the state's allowable limit of .08%. A check of Mr. Warren's drivers license also revealed a warrant for his arrest out of Orange, NJ. Mr. Warren was issued summonses for DWI, maintenance of lamps, and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle with Mr. Warren identified as Laura A. Watson of Somerset, NJ was also issued a summons for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Both were released to the custody of Mr. Watson's son in law lending court.
